7TH ANNUAL WRITER'S RETREAT

A time away in a beautiful, inspiring setting to concentrate on your story. What legacy will you leave your loved ones? Only you can write your memories, reflections on your life and hopes for the future. You may want to write a memoir, or experience how journaling can help you deepen your expression of creativity and spirituality.

There will be two daily group sessions, with ample free time in between to write, read, rest, swim etc. We will grow together as a safe, encouraging and  empowering community. Join us for a rich time of writing. No experience necessary, all are welcome!

First session, Monday 8 pm. Closing, Friday noon.

Valerie Nielsen is the leader of the Writers’ Circle at First Unitarian Church, Hamilton, and a regular Unicamp instructor.

Program fee: $150.

Scholarships are available.

ART RETREAT - CONNECTING WITH NATURE
Lauren Renzetti

Using Unicamp as our inspiration with its picturesque vistas, mossy craggy caves, dappled ponds, rolling hills, fantastic forests and expansive skies, create a series of small works in your media of choice with on-location drawing and painting.

Three or four sessions per day doing either drawing, watercolour, or acrylic painting on site. These studies can be small and detailed and can be a spring board for larger works back in your studio or be finished works in their own right.

Be introduced to a variety of drawing techniques, strategies to create interesting composition, colour theory to create depth and have a constructive end-of-week critique. We will explore the perfect location and capture the light of sunrise, early morning, afternoon and sunset. Discussion of art movements and artists will also help round out this weeklong immersion into the Canadian Landscape.

For adults and teens (ages 16 and up).

Bring your own paint materials and a sketchbook.

Hours: Sunday 4 pm to Friday 1 pm.

Program fee: a sliding scale of $100 - $150 per participant plus accommodation/food.

REIKI LEVEL 1
Kaitlyn McLay

Kaitlyn is a lifelong Unicamper who has lived, loved and worked here ever since she can remember. Kaitlyn is a wonderful caring and extremely empathetic healer and teacher. As a Reiki master, she is excited to extend her teachings to other wonderful Unicampers! Participants will be attending to the first level of Usui Ryoho Reiki, learn to heal themselves and others, practice what we’ve learned and so much more. This course is light-hearted, relaxing and fun.
